The Blackstar Dept. 10 AMPED 1 is a 100-watt guitar amplifier in a compact pedal with an aluminum housing. It works as a complete amp on its own, or it adds a real power stage to a modeler, multi-effects unit or preamp pedal and drives an 8 or 16 ohm cabinet at full power. A power switch drops it to 20 W or 1 W, and CabRig speaker simulation with USB-C audio makes it as useful for recording and quiet practice as it is on stage.
Voices and Power Valve Responses
Three preamp voices cover a clean, bright American sound (USA), a British Class A character from the early '60s (UK), and a neutral Flat setting for external preamps and modelers. The Response control gives the feel of five power valve types, KT88, 6L6, EL34, 6V6 and EL84, moving from tight and dynamic to compressed and spongy. A Linear setting gives transparent power amplification, and with the Flat voice it passes a modeler's sound through without changing its color.
CabRig, Recording and Pedalboard Integration
CabRig simulates a miked guitar cabinet with 23 cabinets, 6 microphones and room settings, edited in Blackstar's free Architect software and stored in three slots on a side switch. A balanced XLR and a stereo line/headphone output carry the simulated sound to a PA, interface or headphones. Over USB-C the AMPED 1 records four channels at once: stereo CabRig, the preamp alone and a dry guitar signal for reamping. A TRS effects loop runs in series or parallel, MIDI In controls the amp, and two 9V DC outputs power other pedals.
