Up for sale is a cool vintage 1980s Gibson Patent No. Humbucker Pickup Set (PAT. NO. 2,737,842 stamped baseplates).

These share most specs with early 1980s Gibson production (Tim Shaw era builds): non-T-Top bobbins, white plastic spacers, brass baseplate screws, and rough-cut Alnico magnets. The green coil wire I haven't seen before. Both pickups measure close at ~7.75k Ohms, delivering excellent output, clarity, and classic vintage PAF warmth.

Specs

  • Baseplates: Stamped PAT. NO. 2,737,842 (no visible ink stamps)
  • Bobbins & Wire: Non-T-Top bobbins with distinct green coil wire visible
  • Internal wiring: Black and white internal hookup lead wires
  • Spacers: White plastic spacers between baseplate and bobbins
  • Hardware: Brass screws securing the bobbins to the baseplate
  • Magnets: Rough-cut Alnico magnets
  • DCR Readings: Both read approximately ~7.75 kΩ (nicely balanced pair!)
  • Covers: Original metal covers, heavily aged gold plating with authentic patina and play wear.

Condition

  • Leads: The braided outer leads appear to be original to the pickups, but they have undergone past repairs and extensions over the years. They are fully functional and ready to wire into your project.
  • Aesthetics: Covers show heavy, natural aging, the gold plating has worn down giving them a fantastic, authentic vintage relic look.
