Up for sale is a genuine late-1970s Rochester, NY MXR Dyna Comp featuring the legendary RCA CA3080 metal-can IC chip on its original circuit board.
This metal-can IC is the most sought-after version of the Dyna Comp circuit, known for providing the ultra-smooth sustain, warmth, and classic percussive squash that modern reissues can't quite match.
Circuit & Serial Provenance:
Original Board: Features the factory PCB with authentic RCA CA3080 metal-can IC, original carbon-film resistors, and vintage capacitors.
Internal Markings: Retains the factory serial sticker (#213272 dating to ~1978-1979), internal QC inspection grid ("GUITAR TEST" stamped), and the internal "MXR INNOVATIONS" backplate stamp.
Condition & Modern Enhancements:
Enclosure: Original 1970s die-cast housing, refinished in bright red with custom script decal graphics.
Power Upgrade: Retrofitted with a top-mounted standard 9V DC barrel jack, allowing it to run directly on standard pedalboard power supplies without battery adapters.
Hardware: Outfitted with robust 1/4" jack mounts, classic pointer knobs, and a green Mooer footswitch topper.
