About This Model
The Yamaha MT50 is an analog 4-track cassette multitrack recorder, capturing four mono tracks onto a single side of a standard cassette. It runs at double speed (9.5 cm/sec) and requires Type II tape, delivering improved audio fidelity across all four tracks. Each of the four channels features a combo TRS 1/4" jack accepting both mic and line sources, a 2-band EQ (high and low), and an aux send with stereo return for effects. The unit includes dbx noise reduction — switchable globally or defeated on track 4 alone — along with a varispeed pitch control, a 3-digit mechanical tape counter with zero-stop locator, and a sync out jack for MIDI sync integration. All four tracks can be recorded simultaneously, making it a practical self-contained tool for home demo work and analog multitrack experimentation.
