The 1966 Fender Mustang Bass, introduced as a student-level instrument, is a short-scale (30") 4-string with an alder body, maple neck, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Known for its comfortable, compact offset design, it features a 1-5/8" nut width, 19 frets, split single-coil pickup, and "lollipop" tuners in its initial production year. The neck stamp is obscured and the original pots are gone, but the serial number indicates either '66 or '67. It was routed for some sort of other pickup, and it's currently loaded with a Curtis Novak pickup and Vintage Inspired wiring harness. The mute has been removed from the original bridge. The neck has been refretted and a new nut has been installed (1.617" wide). The pickguard is new as well, and there are some extra holes under it (and one that isn't) from other guards having been installed. It plays and sounds great!
