A beautiful and well-playing viola by Mathias Heinicke, built in 1928 in Wildstein near Eger, Bohemia.
This instrument represents the classic Central European violin-making tradition of the early 20th century. Heinicke was a respected Bohemian maker, and instruments from this region are known for their strong craftsmanship, tonal depth, and musical reliability.
The viola has a body length of 40.5 cm, a highly comfortable and desirable size that offers an excellent balance between playability and a full, rich viola sound.
The instrument is in good condition and has been professionally set up in our workshop. It is fitted with new Larsen Virtuoso strings, providing a clear, focused, and warm tone with excellent response. The viola is also equipped with an Erik Hoffmann bridge, ensuring optimal sound transmission and stability.
Tonally, the instrument delivers a warm, rounded, and resonant sound, with good projection, making it well suited for both orchestral playing and chamber music.
