Here’s an exceptionally clean 2017 Fender American Professional Jaguar in Sonic Grey, showing clear evidence of careful ownership and fitted with two very worthwhile upgrades. A set of mildly overwound Lindy Fralin Jaguar pickups adds a little more push and authority without losing the essential Jaguar chime, and surfy character. The upgraded Mastery bridge is another smart move, adding stability and addressing the shallow break angle that can make the original Jaguar bridge setup a little fussy—especially on a 24" scale instrument.
When the Jaguar was formally introduced in 1962, it sat at the top of Fender’s price list. Borrowing heavily from the Jazzmaster, it kept the comfortable offset body, floating vibrato, and separate rhythm/lead circuit, but brought its own feel and voice to the table. The big differences were the shorter 24" scale length and the distinctive single-coil pickups with metal “claw” surrounds, designed to focus the magnetic field for more output while helping reduce noise and hum. Like several of Fender’s more ambitious designs, the Jaguar never matched the broad popularity of the Stratocaster or Telecaster and for some time was dropped from the Fender catalog.
That 24" scale is a major part of the charm. It gives the guitar a slinkier feel, lower string tension, and an easy-playing response that encourages a different touch. You do give up a bit of the snap and harmonic sparkle of Fender’s longer-scale guitars, but what you gain is a fast, relaxed feel with a rounder attack and a very addictive playability. You can easily go a gauge up from your normal strings and it will still play like butter, and it's laughable that they came stock with 9's from the factory.
Short-scale guitars make you play a little differently, and that is often the point. This American Professional Jaguar is a high-quality modern take on the model, with classic offset looks, smart electronics, and meaningful upgrades that make it more stable, more powerful, and more stage-ready than a typical stock example. If you have always liked the idea of a Jaguar but had reservations about the usual quirks, this one takes care of the right things while keeping the personality intact.
Excellent condition guitar with no fret wear, chips, nicks or dents. Sadly no case candy. Includes professional setup and setup checklist.
