Video: How do the AmpliTube X-Gear Pedals Stack Up?

Back at Summer NAMM, IK Multimedia unveiled four brand-new "X-Gear" digital guitar pedals—a delay, distortion, reverb, and modulation pedal—that promised to give players their "studio sound onstage." Today, we wanted to put that claim to the test and see what these pedals can do in real-world applications.

Each of the four AmpliTube X-Gear pedals is packed with 16 different onboard effects. Most of the must-have analog-style effects are are sourced from IK's existing AmpliTube models, but the company has also specially created some new, cutting-edge, studio-grade reverb and delay algorithms as well.

All of the included effects also have virtual counterparts that can be used with AmpliTube 5. If you don't already have it, each pedal comes with a copy of AmpliTude 5 SE, which makes setting, saving, and moving presets between X-Gear pedals a breeze (each pedal has room to save up to 300 presets).

What's also notable is each pedal also can function as a USB audio interface, with a stereo out for monitoring, MIDI capability, versatile routing for sending wet/dry signals to your DAW, and a 5Hz to 24kHz frequency response for capturing the full range of your guitar or bass.

Now that you've learned a bit about them, check out the full video above for a demonstration of what they can do and how they really sound and click the links above to grab your own.
