Sonor Teardrop 13x8 Tom Shell – 1960s – Project / Rewrap Candidate

For sale is a vintage Sonor Teardrop 13x8 tom shell from the 1960s.

I originally bought this shell a few years ago as a restoration project with the intention of rewrapping it. Shortly after, I found a complete original tom in the finish I needed, so this shell was never used or modified by me.

Shell details:

• 6-ply beech shell

• 13” diameter, 8” depth

• Classic Teardrop-era lug configuration

• Bearing edges are in good condition

• Shell is structurally solid and round

Condition / Notes:

• Shell only – no hardware included

• Original Red Oyster wrap (appears original), but in rough cosmetic condition

• Wrap shows cracks, lifting, and damage

• Badge missing

• Multiple extra holes present – I cannot guarantee that all holes are factory original

• One hole near the tom mount area appears to be drilled through the shell only (not through the wrap)

• Two additional holes on the opposite side – originality unknown

• Some glue residue inside

I want to be fully transparent: this is clearly a project shell and priced accordingly.

Ideal for a rewrap, restoration, or custom build using Teardrop hardware.
