1983 Gibson Es-335 Dot Reissue Tobacco Sunburst Tim Shaw Humbuckers Plays And Sounds Great!
Here is a really nice early 1983 Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue in the classic dark Tobacco Sunburst finish. This is more of a player-grade example, but it's a very original guitar and a really great one to actually play.
It retains the original Tim Shaw humbuckers, which sound fantastic, along with the original USA Grover tuners, nickel hardware, black bonnet knobs, and even the original Posi-Lock strap buttons. All of the important stuff is here.
This guitar has definitely been played over the years. There are marks and general wear throughout, but there is very little fret wear, and the original frets have plenty of life left. The one notable issue is a repaired slice in the top near the controls, between the switch and neck pickup volume knob. It has been touched up and does not affect anything functionally, but it is definitely there and takes this one down a notch from a collector standpoint.
There are no headstock breaks or headstock cracks, and overall this is a very solid and usable guitar. The neck is actually a little more substantial than many of these early ES-335 Dot Reissues, measuring 0.84" at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th fret.
As a player, this is a really great guitar. Everything works as it should, it plays easily, and the Tim Shaw humbuckers sound excellent. This is also the kind of vintage guitar you can enjoy without worrying about every little scratch you put on it.
It comes with the original hardshell case, which has one broken latch and general wear to match the guitar.

Playability & Sound
This is a really great-playing ES-335 with a surprisingly substantial neck for one of these early reissues. It measures 0.84" at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th fret, with a 1-11/16" nut width.
The original Tim Shaw humbuckers sound excellent, with plenty of clarity, punch, and classic Gibson semi-hollow character.
The frets show very little wear and have plenty of life left, so this is a guitar you can easily play and enjoy for many years without immediately needing to do anything.
At 8.7 lbs., it has a nice solid feel without being overly heavy.
