The Martin D18 is widely regarded as one of the true classics in the world of acoustic guitars. While its specifications have evolved over time, this 1952 example comes from a relatively stable period and retains the familiar features that defined the D18 since the late 1940s.
Built with a mahogany back, sides and neck combined with a Sitka spruce top, this guitar delivers the balanced, direct and punchy tone the model is known for. The bridge and fingerboard are made from Brazilian rosewood, with a long saddle design that reflects the period-correct construction.
This D18 is a true player’s instrument and remains in excellent condition. It shows repaired cracks on the upper sides of the body, replaced tuners, and a K&K Trinity pickup system has been installed. The bridge has been reglued and the guitar has undergone a professional PLEK setup. It also appears to have had an overspray at some point in its life. With a rich history and plenty of character, this remarkable D18 is ready for its next chapter.
