DOD 250 Overdrive Preamp Grey Box 3D LOGO Rare Vintage 1970s
Very rare to see these come up for sale now - especially in this version!
Note that this one has a left logo compared to the standard grey box versions, which have a right logo (see photos). This makes it a very rare and early transitional version.
They were produced during a very short transitional period between late 1977 and early 1978, making it a true “Holy Grail” for collectors.
It is also claimed that the left logo versions have slightly more gain than the later right logo versions.
The older grey box pedals have an OP741 op amp, while the reissues have a 4558 op amp. This one has the original LM741 chip.
Yngwie Malmsteen used, among other things, a DOD 250 grey box in combination with a Fender Stratocaster, a DiMarzio FS-1 in the bridge, and Marshall non-master-volume amps, with Steeler, Alcatrazz, and on his early solo releases in the early ’80s.
Built like a tank, and works just like it should - no issues whatsoever.
100% original pedal, all original parts.
