About this listing
1963/64 Fender Jazzmaster in Burgandy Mist. This was sold to me as 'original' but I suspect the body may be a refinish. If so, it was done long ago. The neck is dated Dec 63 and the pots/pickups are 64. The white pinstripe around the edge of the body has been applied professionally and again, long ago. This colour scheme seems to copy the Oldsmobile cars of the period. The guitar was sold to me by a relative of Steve Mazur, who is the guitarist in the Canadian band Our Lady Peace. I was told that it was being sold on his behalf. The guitar has play wear on the body but is otherwise in very good condition, including the frets which have been professionally dressed or replaced and there is plenty of life left. The paint loss to the lower bouts may be due to transportation. The case the guitar came in is not original and far too large. The re-issue Fender case in the photos is included in the sale. The pick guard has shrunk and pulled some of the attachment screws, which is not unusual for Jazzmaster guitars of this age. The guitars weight is 7.9lb, which is good for a Jazzmaster. The guitar plays and sounds great and all controls work.I have fitted a replacement bridge but the original will be included. The guitar appears to be original with maybe the body finish being the exception but it is also possible that the slightly later pot dates indicate a Fender factory or employee special. Either way, this is a unique and special guitar and had been priced to reflect the uncertainty about the body finish.I have tried to be honest about the overall condition so, experts, please don't give me grief.I'm confident the buyer will not be disappointed about the overall vibe, sound and playability of this lovely Jazzmaster.Closed offers considered but no swaps or trades. Thanks for your interest.
