Here's a truly clean 2025 American Professional II Telecaster HH, complete with its original molded TSA case. Fender has released more versions of the Telecaster than there are flavors of Kit Kat, and this HH take is a bold step away from the original blueprint — but that only makes it a more interesting guitar.
The chambered swamp ash body tips the scales at just 6.0 pounds, and its lightly sandblasted finish gives it an open-grain feel you can actually feel — reminiscent of G&L's Black Ice collection from about a decade ago. Even with the guitar's light weight it does not exhibit neck dive, though the overall balance may feel borderline to some players.
Combine that chambered swamp ash with a string-thru bridge and roasted maple neck, and you get a guitar that's remarkably resonant and acoustically alive, with plenty of snap and a highly responsive feel. The satin-finished neck is silky smooth, and the fretboard and fret ends are beautifully finished. Other niceties include a bone nut, micro-tilt neck adjustment, and locking tuners.
Under the hood you've got the Seymour Duncan '59 and JB pickup pairing, a classic combo that shows up in countless premium guitars. It's ideally suited to blues, classic rock, and hard rock: the bolt-on neck and chambered body give it a leaner, more percussive voice than you'd get from a solid-body set-neck guitar, while still delivering the fatter tones and thick crunch that Fender lovers crave.
Is it really a Telecaster? Fender says so, and while purists might raise an eyebrow, this American Professional II Telecaster HH blends the best of both worlds into a very compelling package.
