Up for sale is an iconic 1979 Mesa/Boogie Mark IIA, a true piece of rock history featuring the highly sought-after hardwood cabinet and cane grille.
This amplifier has undergone significant professional maintenance to ensure it remains roadworthy for years to come. As shown in the detailed photos, a full recap has been performed using premium Tube Amp Doctor (TAD) components. Additionally, the Volume 1 potentiometer has been replaced with a brand-new high-quality part from TAD.
Technical Specifications & Condition:
Model: This is the legendary 60-Watt version of the Mark IIA. While the general factory label on the chassis includes instructions for the entire 100/60W series, this specific unit is the 60W model, powered by two 6L6 tubes. This configuration is widely praised by players for its perfect balance of natural tube saturation and harmonic richness at manageable volumes.
Recent Maintenance: All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with high-end TAD components, ensuring the power supply is stable, quiet, and reliable.
Functionality: The amp is fully functional, including the reverb and all gain stages.
Tube Note: There is a slight microphonic response when pushing the Volume 1, Master 1, Lead Drive, and Lead Master controls to higher levels. Because tone is subjective, I believe it is best for the new owner to swap the preamp tubes to their own personal preference to achieve the exact sonic color and characteristics they are looking for.
