I'm selling my QuadMic I to buy its bigger sibling, the Octamic. Excellent preamp. All channels are also equipped with LED indicators showing signal presence, clipping status, and phantom power activation. The input gain can be adjusted from +10 dB to +60 dB. Balanced line-level output signals are provided on the rear panel via four 6.3 mm (1/4") TRS jacks. The QuadMic I complements any RME system with line inputs by adding external microphone inputs. Since the unit operates on supply voltages between 9 and 18 V DC, it can run on virtually any available power source, including batteries and rechargeable batteries. There is a minor difference between the QuadMic I and the QuadMic II. The QuadMic I has a gain knob ranging from +10 to +60 dB. The QuadMic II ranges from +6 to +60 dB. However, the I has a switch to select the output level, whereas the II no longer has one. It seems that the II sounds more “modern.” As for me, I now have an FS 802, and aside from the greater number of inputs, I don’t notice a striking difference, even though the preamps are supposed to be superior to those of the QuadMic II.
