My friend Jim in Boca Raton FL bought this Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone used in 1978. It is a 1975 Selmer Mark VI and the serial number is 278xxx..Jim was a working tenor sax and flute player in the 1970s . Someone he knew at a now long gone music store in Boca Raton called and told him a lady had just brought in an alto sax she wanted to sell. The store, Hi-Sea Music, bought the alto sax from the lady then immediately called Jim to tell him they had it. The store mainly concentrated on guitars amps and drums... Jim went over to the store and immediately decided to purchase the sax.So the store never put it in their inventory and Jim has been its sole owner for the last 48 years. Health issues made him retire as working saxophonist about 35 years ago. This sax has its original lacquer ,and has been well cared by Jim, and not played too much during these last 35 years...so it is in great shape. A New York USA Meyer alto sax mouthpiece was in the case when he bought this sax, so I suspect that the original owner had played this mouthpiece for many years on another alto before buying this Selmer Mark VI alto sax in 1975. I am selling the New York USA Meyer 5M mouthpiece in a separate Reverb listing ........ It does not have any teeth marks, and I have played it with a plastic stick-on vibra ease type patch.I recently had a sax repair man put a new neck cork on this sax and replace one leaking pad near the top of the sax. Watch the demo of the sax just recorded on September 7, 2026. It plays well.No mouthpiece is included with this sale. But please view and consider buying the NY Meyer 5M alto mouthpiece, which is also for sale in a separate listing. It is the mouthpiece being played in the short video demo.The case for this Sax is heavy and very protective. It can hold a clarinet in the fitted insert case. Below the clarinet case is a built-in area which will hold a low C foot flute.thanks for looking
