A mic with unmistakable vintage charm — the Telefunken TD 9 is a compact dynamic microphone with a striking visual design. Its bold white grille and smooth black plastic housing give it a futuristic look that could only have come from the golden age of West German consumer electronics. Though originally intended for speech or domestic use, the TD 9 holds its own in creative modern setups thanks to its unique voicing and sturdy capsule - performs reliably with surprising presence for a microphone of its class.

BUILD & DESIGN
The TD 9 is lightweight but solid, with a distinctly retro design that sets it apart from Telefunken’s more industrial offerings. The white plastic grille stands out sharply against the black cylindrical body, giving it a balanced and attractive two-tone finish. A built-in stand mount socket allows for easy use in both handheld and stationary positions. The inner dynamic capsule is mounted behind a fine acoustic mesh, no foam.

Despite being mostly plastic, the build quality is consistent with other German-made Telefunken mics of the era — clever, clean, and reliable.
