About this listing
Fender Japan ST62-TX Stratocaster MIJ 2015 Fiesta Red – Last Year of Original Fender Japan, Texas Specials, Complete Case CandyA true collector’s piece.Up for sale is a 2015 Fender Japan ST62-TX Stratocaster, a faithful reissue of the 1962 Stratocaster in one of the most desirable factory specifications: alder body, factory-installed Fender USA Texas Special pickups, and the iconic Fiesta Red finish. The guitar comes complete with its original paperwork and—most notably—the original purchase receipt from Japan, something rarely seen on the used market.Serial number: JD15002928 The “JD” prefix indicates production at the Dyna Gakki factory, while “15” denotes the year of manufacture.WHY 2015?This is the final production year of the original Fender Japan company. Fender Japan, which had operated since 1982, officially ceased operations on March 31, 2015, and the ST62-TX disappeared from the catalog permanently. Instruments from this period represent the end of an era—no more were ever produced.THE PICKUPS THAT MADE HISTORYThese are not ordinary single-coils.The Fender USA Texas Special pickups were originally designed to recreate the overwound pickups found in Stevie Ray Vaughan’s legendary “Number One” Stratocaster. They first appeared in his signature model and have since become one of Fender’s most recognizable pickup sets.Featuring Alnico V magnets, a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup for hum-canceling in positions 2 and 4, stronger midrange, and increased output while retaining classic Strat character. This is the same pickup set Fender installs in the Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bonnie Raitt signature Stratocasters.THE LEGENDARY FIESTA REDFiesta Red was one of Fender’s earliest custom colors, inspired by American automotive paint palettes of the late 1950s.The finish became famous thanks to Hank Marvin of The Shadows, whose 1959 Fiesta Red Stratocaster is widely regarded as the first Stratocaster ever imported into the United Kingdom. Its popularity sparked a wave of demand for Fiesta Red across Europe.SPECIFICATIONSAlder bodyMaple neck with Oval profileRosewood fingerboardVintage-correct 7.25” fingerboard radius25.5” (648 mm) scale length21 frets42 mm nut widthFender USA Texas Special pickups (SSS)1 Volume, 2 Tone controls5-way selector switchVintage-style synchronized tremolo with cast blockVintage-style tuning machinesJAPANESE DOMESTIC MARKET (JDM)This model was built exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and was never part of Fender’s regular distribution in North America or Europe.CONDITIONThe guitar is fully functional and has been well played over the years.Frets are in good condition with plenty of life remaining.
