About this listing
The 1960 Fender Princeton 5F2-A Tweed is one of those amplifiers that helped shape the history of the electric guitar. An authentic American vintage that embodies all the charm of early 1960s Fender production, when simple construction and quality components translated into a sound that remains unmatched today. This example is in very good cosmetic condition and retains most of its original components: the circuitry is original, as are the power and output transformers, essential elements for preserving the instrument's tonal character. The 10" Oxford speaker is also the factory one and has been professionally refurbished by Carlo Perini of Migliorini, one of Italy's most respected vintage speaker repairers, thus preserving its value and original voice. The amplifier has recently been overhauled to ensure reliability in everyday use: some capacitors and resistors have been replaced exclusively for maintenance purposes, a new power cord with a modern plug has been installed, and the selector switch has been replaced, while the original one is supplied with the amplifier. The handle has also been replaced with a faithful leather reproduction, while the original tweed still retains a splendid color and is surprisingly clean for an instrument that is now over sixty years old. The 5F2-A circuit is one of the most beloved in Fender history. It only takes a few seconds to understand why its name has become synonymous with the famous "Tweed Sound": dynamic, warm, rich in harmonics, and incredibly sensitive to the player's touch. It is one of those amplifiers that can transform every nuance of the right hand into music, delivering a truly immersive response. A natural, three-dimensional sound that modern productions still struggle to match. It's a piece designed for both the musician who desires the authentic Fender Tweed sound and the collector who recognizes the value of a historic amplifier destined to retain its appeal over time.
