Fantastic guitar. Plays and sounds like a dream. The "thin-skin" lacquer has aged nicely, making this feel like a vintage Tele. This is from the "Pure Vintage Series" (2012-2017) when Fender got it right. (After this, they went to a polyurethane sealer under nitrocellulose lacquer on the American Vintage series, for example.)The saddles have been upgraded to Glendale "Intone Cutting Edge" Compensated Saddles for better intonation, but the original Fenders are included. The volume and tone pots have been rewired so they taper properly rather than dropping off suddenly (which is what happens when you wire regular pots backwards on a lefty guitar as Fender tends to do). For instance, an American Vintage 56 Stratocaster and and Custom shop 56 Stratocaster Time Machine were identical spec wise. Many believe that this AV series is the closest Fender has come to replicating pre-CBS era guitars. Accurate neck profiles, thinner finishes and because of the meticulous attention to vintage specs with the pickups and body carves. Fender reverse engineered these off of real vintage examples.In fact, this whole series may be even more accurate than Custom shop reissues since they do not have the "Custom shop" logo on the headstock and any modern relicing.
