Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG-100 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a chipboard case, owner’s manual and original receipt. Among the more unique SGs produced during the Norlin era of Gibson production, the SG-100 was only crafted briefly from 1971-72, featuring a solitary single coil neck pickup (the same pickup as a Melody Maker).

Featherweight at 6lbs 4oz, tonewoods include a poplar body, maple neck, and Indian rosewood fingerboard. Acoustically the guitar is warm and balanced, and the single coil pickup has a certain sparkle and chime with a percussive, woody cut. This SG-100 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

  • Wood: Maple
  • Shape: Chunky C, measuring .885” 1st fret, .930” 12th fret
  • Fretboard: Indian rosewood slab, dot inlay
  • Frets: Medium jumbo, light wear favoring the plain strings on frets 1-5
  • Scale Length: 24 3/4”
  • Nut: 1 9/16”
  • Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-line strip
  • Serialization: Six-digit stamp dates to 1972

Body Specs:

  • Wood: Poplar
  • Pickups: Alnico V single coil

The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish shows light wear along the body perimeter, a few light scuffs on the back shy of “buckle rash,” and additional minor marks from careful use. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean.

The original chipboard case is included, along with the original receipt and hangtag/owner’s manual.
