For a sale a very rare microphone from Microfonetechnik Gefell - The UM705, the east German interpretation of the Neumann U89.
I think people think this is just a multipattern UM70, but that is not accurate at all - The UM705 is a unique mic, uses a K89 style capsule and is one of the fattest/darkest transistor mics I have ever heard. It's a another colour in the U89 / TLM170 world.
This one has had all electrolytic capacitors changed, and is already fitted with XLR and converted to P48. This came from an old theater in Adlershof, the district where DDR TV was based and the RFZ had their laboratories.
Normal signs of wear, and also the low cut and pad switch were clipped short, I received three mics like this, I guess there was a risk of the switches being accidentally engaged. They are still perfectly functional.
Reason for sale: I have too many.
Many thanks!
Adam
