The ADAM was developed around Adam “Nolly” Getgood’s approach to modern bass tone and combines a large amount of processing and routing in one compact unit. It can function as a conventional pedalboard preamp/distortion, a DI for live use, a headphone practice setup, an IR/cab-sim solution, or a USB recording interface.

The signal chain combines:

The compressor offers five ratios: 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1 and ALL IN, with automatic makeup-gain behavior. Compression can also be bypassed independently.

The distortion section is based around a model of one of Nolly’s preferred vintage distortion circuits and provides five different modes, ranging from relatively articulate drive through much more aggressive and fuzz-like sounds.

Main controls

Five programmable “smart” potentiometers:

• Compression – controls the amount of compression/input gain
• Drive – controls saturation/distortion
• Character – adjusts the tonal character/brightness of the distorted signal
• Blend – blends the processed/distorted signal with the clean sidechain
• Level – master output level

The stored value of each control can be recalled with presets, with the LED rings indicating the saved position independently of the physical knob position.

6-band touch-sensitive EQ

The six central touch sliders provide a programmable graphic EQ with ±12 dB adjustment per band:

• Low shelf
• 250 Hz
• 500 Hz
• 1.5 kHz
• 3 kHz
• High shelf

The EQ bands are adjusted by swiping the touch-sensitive surfaces rather than using conventional mechanical sliders.

Presets / footswitch encoders

Three rotary footswitch encoders labelled A, B and C provide direct access to the three main presets.

The encoders also provide deeper control:

• A: compressor mode / compressor bypass
• B: distortion mode / distortion bypass
• C: cabinet IR selection / IR bypass

Presets can be edited and stored directly from the unit. Additional preset access and deeper configuration are available through MIDI and the Darkglass Suite.

Cabinet simulation / IR

Five IR cabinet slots are stored onboard. The factory IRs were captured for the ADAM, and different Darkglass or third-party impulse responses can be loaded using Darkglass Suite.

Cab simulation can be incorporated into direct, headphone and line-output setups, making the pedal suitable for ampless/live-direct rigs as well as recording.

Built-in tuner

Integrated chromatic tuner, accessible from the footswitches. The tuner covers A0 to A#5 and is referenced to A4 = 440 Hz.

The two 1/4" outputs can operate as balanced outputs for connection to monitors, interfaces, amplification or other equipment, while the XLR provides a dedicated DI connection.

USB audio interface / Darkglass Suite

• The USB-C connection allows the ADAM to operate as an audio interface and also connects it to Darkglass Suite.
• It supports simultaneous recording of a processed instrument signal and a clean/unprocessed signal, as well as stereo audio from the Aux/Bluetooth source. Supported sample rates are 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz.
• Darkglass Suite can be used for firmware updates, preset management, IR loading, output routing, MIDI mapping and additional configuration.
• Bluetooth functionality is available for compatible media playback / device integration.

Condition

• Very Good used condition.
• The unit shows normal cosmetic signs of use. There are various small marks, scuffs and surface blemishes on the green enclosure, particularly around portions of the front I/O panel and on some of the side/top surfaces. These have been deliberately photographed under strong direct lighting so that the cosmetic condition is clearly visible.
• There are no obvious major dents or structural damage. The printed legends remain clear and the controls, footswitches and connections are complete.
• Please examine all photographs carefully, as they show the actual unit being sold and form part of the condition description.
