The Korg KRONOS Mk2 61 is a flagship music workstation combining nine distinct synthesis engines, extensive sampling and sequencing capabilities, powerful effects processing and comprehensive performance controls in a single instrument. Its 61-key semi-weighted keyboard makes it equally suited to synth, organ and workstation duties, while providing a more portable alternative to the larger KRONOS models.

At the heart of the KRONOS Mk2 are nine independent sound engines covering acoustic and electric pianos, tonewheel organs, virtual analogue synthesis, physical modelling, waveshaping and sample-based synthesis. The enhanced SGX-2 Premium Piano engine adds the Berlin Grand alongside detailed sympathetic string resonance and Una Corda samples, providing a highly expressive acoustic piano experience.

The 8-inch colour TouchView display provides direct access to sounds, sequencing, synthesis and system functions. Touch-Drag functionality allows parameters to be manipulated directly on screen, including detailed editing and virtual patching within compatible synthesis engines.

For composition and production, KRONOS combines a 16-track MIDI sequencer with 16 tracks of audio recording, Korg's Open Sampling System and extensive onboard effects processing. User Sample Banks allow custom sample libraries to be created and integrated alongside the factory sounds, while Smooth Sound Transitions allow sounds and effects to continue naturally when changing programs or combinations.

The extensive physical control surface provides eight rotary controls, nine sliders, illuminated switches, dual joysticks and a ribbon controller for hands-on sound shaping and performance. Set List mode provides fast organisation and recall of sounds for live use, while USB host connectivity supports class-compliant MIDI controllers and integration with external equipment.
