We bought this wonderful microphone many years ago from the original owner, an elderly gentleman who used it exclusively for recording classical music. That's one of the reasons it has survived in such exceptional condition. Since then, it has only been used in our professional recording studio too.
The microphone is genuinely mint. It's also the first and rarer version with the larger mesh pattern. In my opinion, these early versions sound better than the later ones.
It was serviced by Andreas Grosser back then (RIP), who also installed a high-quality NOS 801S tube. The 801S is a long-life tube that typically lasts longer and runs quieter than the standard 6072A, which is why Andreas chose it. No circuit modifications were required, and it sounds fantastic. If you prefer, we're happy to swap it back to a 6072A.
Everything is original. The only replacements are the power supply and the cable, both newly made by Andreas Grosser. The capsules are original as well.
Please let me know if you're interested. You can also reach me easily via Instagram. I'd be happy to send you test recordings or any additional information you might need.
This is probably one of the best AKG C24 currently available on the market. There are some cheaper ones available, but those are "Frankenstein" microphones assembled from mismatched or replacement parts! So it's worth taking a close look before buying!
