1984 335 DOT Custom Shop
I've owned this guitar for about 20 years and it lives in a non-smoking home with a family of guitars. The guitar has not been played all that much, maybe 40-50 hours in the last 20 years. It's a very sweet guitar, the pots I just noticed are a little scratchy which is normal and needs some love. Everything works!

Gibson’s Nashville plant was opened in Tennessee 1974. All electric models and some acoustic models currently made at this factory. This facility has an average production rate of 220 guitars a day. Each guitar is built by hand and takes about 4 to 6 weeks to complete. Note: Most hollow and semi-hallow body guitars are made at a separate plant in Memphis Tennessee. This facility has an average production rate of 40 guitars a day.
Gibson’s second golden era for 335s the first being ‘58-‘64. These are phenomenal guitars and examples of the originals and with the PAF Tim Shaw pickups. This guitar has that “woody” vintage vibe. This is a very rare Custom Shop model which were typically made for artists. Guitar is in great condition and plays and sounds phenomenal.
1984 Gibson Custom Shop Edition ES-335 Dot semi-hollow body electric guitar in very good condition and perfect working order with a custom color Pearl White finish. The ES-335 Dot represents Gibson's first honest attempt at recreating the magic of the early dot neck ES-335, and this example features a rare pearlescent white nitro lacquer finish, gold hardware, and traditional 1 11/16" nut width with a 12” radius rosewood fingerboard. Medium jumbo frets, Dot inlays, Gold Grover tuners, Kahler/Gibson style tremolo which is factory fitted and branded as Gibson made in USA.
This guitar boasts the original Tim Shaw PAF style humbuckers, which were Gibsons first and arguably most successful bid at recreating the richness, clarity, and harmonic content of Gibson's golden era humbucker. The one-piece mahogany neck has a full and chunky C shaped profile at the nut but achieves plenty of chunk and fullness up the neck. The fretboard is a nice dark cut of rosewood, with pearl dot inlays.
On the body, original electronics work as they should, with the Tim Shaw pickups wired to a three-way pickup selector and individual volume and tone pots for each pickup with black bell knobs. The maple body has cream binding, a black pickguard, and gold hardware that has just the right amount of patina to have vintage appeal.
Cosmetically, this guitar shows some light aging of the nitro lacquer clear coat, giving the Pearl White finish a faint golden sheen in certain lighting conditions. There is a couple of small dings, and a bit of wear as expected. The finish has aged beautifully and there is some nice lacquer checking lines. There is also a bit of color stain both on the elbow side and some at the back. I tried to capture as much as I could.
The original black Gibson hardshell case is included.
