About this listing
Selling my Akai MPC4000 Studio Version. This thing is in great cosmetic shape and has been fully optimized to run fast and reliably in a modern studio setup. If you know about these, you know they sound incredible.Upgraded 500GB SSD: Runs totally silent and cool. I have custom-partitioned the drive down to 120GB. If you leave a modern drive at 500GB on this old-school OS, it gets super laggy and takes an entire minute just to create a new folder. Keeping the partition locked at 120GB keeps the file allocation tables tiny, meaning you get instant folder creation and zero lag while keeping the reliability of an SSD. 8-Output Card Installed: Absolutely essential if you want to track your drums or instruments out into a modern DAW or mixer. Memory: Sitting at 256MB RAM 256MB gives you plenty of sample time to work with. 23min plus Front USB Port Serviced: The front USB host ports on these machines are a super common failure point because plugging things in and out over 20 years snaps the delicate solder joints. This one has been cleanly re-soldered and reinforced, so it works flawlessly for hooking up your USB thumb drives or a QWERTY keyboard. 🔍 Screen Condition (Full Disclosure):When you first boot the machine up from a cold start, there are two horizontal black lines across the screen. As the machine warms up and stays on for a bit, the lines tend to disappear. A plug in play new display is $200-250. You don’t have to open the Mpc to replace just take the screw out of the back of the display. 30 min upgrade. The new ones are much nicer but I just never saw the need. This is a legendary machine that has been thoughtfully dialed-in and well cared for. It will be packed tight and shipped out with full insurance. Drop me message if you have any questions.
