About this listing
Olivia's Vintage would like to present this 1979 Rickenbacker 4001 in its original White finish with factory checkerboard binding. It's very rare to see anything other than a Doubleneck from this period of time with this checkerboard purfling/binding. The clear coat finish has turned very yellow and a previous owner removed most of the clear coat from the top of the body, bringing out the exposed white color of the paint from underneath the clear coat. It has a good playing neck with good frets. It's all original with the exception of a later Rickenbacker neck position pickup, a few of the wires and a few of the pickguard screws. The original hardshell case is included and the handle has had some work to secure it with some replaced screws. There are lots of nicks + dings, finish checking, some finish worn off from play wear, some finish worn off by sanding and other cosmetic wear. The pickguard has a couple of cracks around the neck position pickup. There is also the slightest bit of seam separation on the bottom edge of the body that has caused a small finish crack. The bass itself remains structurally sound. All electronics work and sound great. We are happy to ship internationally.
