About this listing
For sale is my beautiful German-made Höfner 500/1 Violin Bass. 1969/70. I have owned this bass for around 25 years, and it is in truly exceptional condition for an instrument more than half a century old. Never left my house. When I acquired it, it was inspected and dated to circa 1969/70 by highly respected Adelaide guitar technician Peter Jenkins, who described it to me as the best example he had seen. The bass is all original and has never been refinished or modified. It plays exceptionally well — essentially as new — with both pickups, switches and controls working exactly as they should. Cosmetically, it is exceptionally clean and remarkably well preserved, particularly considering its age. Looks like an original 60s strap too. It would be difficult to find a cleaner, more original example from this period. Included is a period fitted hard case with an excellent plush-lined interior. The exterior of the case shows normal age-related wear and marks, but it has clearly done an excellent job of protecting the instrument. This is a rare opportunity for a serious Höfner collector, Beatles enthusiast or musician wanting an authentic late-1960s German-made 500/1 in outstanding original condition.
