For sale the best synth of my collection, SEQUENTIAL PROPHET 5 REV. 3 WITH KENTON MIDI INTERFACE, a synthesizer that made music history. The Prophet-5 was created in 1977 by Dave Smith at Sequential. At the time Smith was working with microprocessors and came up with the idea of ​​combining them with synthesizer chips to create a programmable synthesizer; this allowed users to save sounds to memory, rather than having to recreate them manually. The Prophet-5 was introduced at NAMM in January 1978 and shipped the first models that same year. Three versions were built between 1978 and 1984. The first, Revision 1, was hand-assembled and produced quickly to generate initial revenue; only 182 were made. Revision 2 was mass-produced in quantities exceeding 1,000; this model was sturdier, added space for cassette patches, and replaced the koa wood shell with walnut. Revision 3 replaced the Solid State Music (SSM) chipset with Curtis Electro Music Specialties (CEM) chips, requiring a major redesign. According to Sound on Sound, the Revision 3 "remained impressive and a pleasure to play compared to previous models". In all, approximately 6,000 Prophet-5 synthesizers were produced. I had the midi interface installed a long time ago by the Lemi company in Turin, dealers specialists of the Prophet. The instrument works well and is in excellent condition both aesthetically and functionally apart from a small restoration on the wood for some scratches normal for an instrument that is 40 years old. The instrument bought in the early 90s has since been kept in my studio and periodically serviced.
