B.C. Rich Mockingbird bass 1979

Selling my 1979 Mockingbird bass, serial number 81779. This beauty doesn't get played as often as it should, mostly because its neck is sadly not comfortable for me (and I'm not going to sand it down, that would be a sacrilege). Didn't gig with it, used only for the recordings and playing at non-smoking home. Comes with an original BC Rich hardshell case.

When I got this bass in my arsenal in December '22, the condition was far from recording-ready, so the following had to be done:

- worn-out frets were replaced with stainless steel ones; fretboard was polished as well;

- truss rod nut was worn out and not working; the nut was replaced with the new one that can be adjusted with a simple metric Allen key, the truss rod itself is 100% original;

- a new graphite compound nut was installed;

- machine heads were taken apart, cleaned and lubricated;

- output jack plate was literally falling apart, so a new one was made; a new Switchcraft stereo jack was installed as well, replacing the original one that was showing signs of corrosion;

- copper foil shielding was installed in order to improve the grounding situation.

The bass has a standard configuration of DiMarzio PAF pickups, Badass bridge, and Grover Wave tuners; equipped with Elixir Nanoweb 40-100 strings on top of that. Visually it has signs of wear and tear accordingly to its age, as well as a bit of buckle rash in one spot on the back. Can provide more photos upon request.

Located in Riga, Latvia. Looking to sell within the European Union since I don't want to risk the shipping overseas. The asking price is taking into account inflation + time and material invested into bringing the instrument back to the battle ready condition. In case of a serious buyer the price can be negotiated.
