These legendary over-engineered units have been thoroughly tested (with Dolby NRM Cat.35A/B tester) and are fully operational. Balanced in/out with Sowter input and output transformers. Extremely clean units with minimal scratches (rack rash) on top and bottom from rack mounting (see photos). Front plate and back plate scratch-free with all lettering intact. No missing screws or washers. Plug & Play ready. 100-130V / 200-260V. Original manual in binder. Hard-to-find (and expensive) PH-163 AC plugs incuded. No butchering of AC power sockets!

10dB to 15dB improved signal/noise relation with Cat.22 Dolby A card and 25dB noise reduction with the included Cat.280 Dolby SR (Spectral Recording) card for a dynamic range in excess of 90dB on most professional and prosumer reel-to-reel recorders.
Dolby Spectral Recording (SR) and Dolby A are considered superior to DBX noise reduction without dulling recordings with a mask/veil.
The (2) Dolby Cat.22 included may be “modded” at buyer’s request. Add (2) “modded” Dolby Cat.22 cards for just €200. Or receive the included A plug-in cards already “modded” for an extra €60.
Modding the encoder of Dolby A cards was used in the 1960s and 70s to emphasise higher frequencies during recording to add “air” to vocals for a more transparent sound akin to a “vocal stressor”. The effect is accomplished by disabling two of the four compression bands: Band 1 (below 80Hz) and Band 2 (80Hz to 3kHz).
