The Electro Voice ZLX 8 G2 is a 2-way passive loudspeaker with drivers developed by Electro Voice in a robust cabinet.

With the introduction of the ZLX 8 G2, Electro Voice presents a remarkable innovation in its new ZLX G2 series - for the first time, an 8" passive speaker has been added to the portfolio of the ZLX series, which, like its big brothers, also delivers impressive acoustic performance and high intelligibility, making it suitable for use in rehearsal rooms, bars and clubs, but also for mobile DJs. The passive speaker is equipped with an 8" woofer for extended bass frequencies and a 1.5" high-frequency titanium compression driver. The passive speaker is characterized by a continuous load capacity of 250 watts and a peak load capacity of 1000 watts respectively. Thanks to its monitor tilt of 55°, the passive speaker can also be used as a floor monitor. In addition to its wide frequency range of 55 to 20,000 Hz, the ZLX 8 G2 delivers an efficiency of 90 dB up to a maximum volume of 124 dB SPL.

A horizontal dispersion angle of 90° enables a wide sound distribution sideways, while a vertical dispersion angle of 60° distributes the sound upwards and downwards in a more limited area. Two speaker twist connectors on the rear are used to connect the speaker cable and to loop through the audio signal. Last but not least, two carrying handles make it easy to transport the robust speaker.

When wiring amplifiers with loudspeakers, the type of loudspeaker plays a decisive role in the choice of cable required.

Passive speakers require a specific, two-pole speaker cable for connection to an amplifier. This cabling is necessary because the amplifier and the speaker are physically separated from each other in a passive setup. Depending on the connectivity of the amplifier and speaker, "speaker twist" or 6.3 mm jack plugs(speaker cable - not instrument cable) are usually used.
