Warm, fat and slightly pushed tone inspired by the preamp section of the iconic Echoplex EP-3 — without having to carry an actual Echoplex around.
It works beautifully as an always-on preamp, opening up a tube amp and adding more body, punch, sustain and harmonic richness. It also makes an excellent boost for solos.
If you know the sound of the classic Echoplex, you know what this is about. If you don't, this is one of those pedals that makes your guitar suddenly sound bigger, more alive and more responsive.
The EP-3 sound was famously used by players such as Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen.
