Made in USA in 1992.

Starfield was a brand of Ibanez in the early 90s, with which they tried to enter the market for somewhat more traditional guitars.

The model presented here comes from the USA production, which – alongside models from Korea and Japan – formed the high-end of the brand. Only high-quality woods and hardware were used.

The Cabriolet American Special is an interesting mix of a Telecaster and a Les Paul.

Fantastic weight of only 3.12 kg – and that for a solidbody with a carved maple top!

The guitar is nevertheless perfectly balanced on a strap.

Body: Mahogany with carved flame maple top

Neck: One-piece maple neck with fingerboard made of completely black ebony (today very expensive and hard to get)

Pickups: Seymour Duncan ’59 Model (Neck) and SH-4 (Bridge)

Tuners: Gotoh

Bridge: Wilkinson

Scale length: 25 inches (between Fender and Gibson; like PRS)

5-way switch that enables convincing split sounds in positions 2 and 4.

Only modification: the original Wilkinson bridge was replaced with a more modern Wilkinson one that can be used both as string-through and as top-loader.

Condition: The guitar has been played a lot, so there are typical signs of use such as minor finish chips and superficial scratches in the finish. However, there are no breaks, cracks or other major damage.

The frets are still in good condition with only minor divots.

The guitar has just received a full service: frets and body polished, fingerboard treated, new strings, action and intonation optimally set up.

The entire electronics work perfectly.
