Introduced in 1954, the Custom sits at the top of the range: ebony fingerboard, binding on the back, around the top and the fingerboard, split-diamond logo, etc.—it offers far more appointments than a Standard. This Custom Shop model features the classic pickup pair: a smooth 490R in the neck position and a powerful 498T at the bridge. Here, it’s not in Ebony but in Heritage Cherry Sunburst with a beautiful figured maple top. The body and neck are, of course, made of mahogany.
