About this listing
Launched in 1958 alongside the Explorer, both models were a resounding commercial failure. It wasn't until 1967 that Gibson relaunched production of the Flying V (and even 1976 for the Explorer!). The construction is classic: mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard with a 12-inch radius. It normally features a pair of powerful ceramic pickups, here replaced by a duo of Seymour Duncans: a powerful SH-5 in the bridge position and a smooth SH-59 in the neck position. The pickguard and potentiometer knobs have also been replaced. This particular guitar dates from a period beloved by Gibson enthusiasts: the 1990s, specifically 1996, and weighs only 3.39 kg! The finish has begun to develop a lovely patina, and it comes in its brown case with a pink fuzzy lining, typical of the era.More pix and details upon request. Shipping worldwide available.
