The Mapex SR504XZ Saturn VI Royal Purple Burst is a professional drum set featuring hybrid maple/walnut shells and Design Lab features. The innovative features from the Mapex Design Lab series include SONIClear™ bearing edges, Static 90° floor tom legs, Air Flow Venting and an isolation gasket. The Mapex Saturn series combines the tried-and-tested formula with unique innovations. The meticulously lacquered finish , combined with chrome-plated hardware, Remo heads and Power Hoops, creates a perfectly harmonious overall look for professional drummers.

The Mapex Saturn series features four innovative functions from the Mapex Design Lab series. The three SAS Static 90° floor tom legs offer longer sustain, as a straight floor tom leg partially eliminates certain frequencies; this is actively counteracted. The Sonic Pedestal Feet are fitted with air suspension, which maximises vibration transmission and shell resonance. All metal parts of the floor tom are located entirely on the outside of the shell and are isolated by a rubber lift gasket. These floor tom isolation gaskets relieve all pressure from the shell and reduce vibration loss. Air Flow Venting is the key to the perfect playing feel. Extensive testing has determined the ideal arrangement and number of air vents for a specific drum shell.

Like their predecessors, the current Saturn drum shells are 6/8-ply hybrids made from maple and walnut. This results in a shell thickness of 6 mm for the toms and floor tom, and 8 mm for the bass drum. The toms are fitted with Remo Clear Emperor heads, whilst the bass drum is topped with a Remo Powerstroke 3 head. Naturally, all shells continue to feature the tried-and-tested Mapex Soniclear™ bearing edge. This is rounded on the outside, allowing for an easy tuning process and a lower pitch, as the drumhead flange sits more securely on the bearing edge. The finish offers a high-quality appearance, particularly in combination with the chrome-plated Locking B Lugs.
