The MD 421 is one of the most recorded-with dynamic microphones ever built — a Sennheiser design that has been in continuous production since the 1960s. It sits on classic records from every genre and remains a studio and live staple. The large-diaphragm cardioid capsule handles extremely high SPLs without breaking up, making it as natural on kick and toms as it is on guitar cabs, brass, bass, and voice.

The five-position bass roll-off switch (M/S/M2/S2/S3 — speech to full cut) lets you tailor proximity effect on the spot without a console. The "-II-4" is the European clip-thread variant — same circuit and capsule as the standard MD 421-II, XLR-3 output.
