Really nice example of the Ibanez S2170 with the Purple Chameleon (PCM) finish. This the last of the prestige models manufactured in Korea. It has the characteristic slimline "S" body shape, with a mahogany body a maple and bubinga neck. The neck profile is Wizard II neck (so it feels thicker than modern prestige Wizard HP neck), spec is 19mm at 1st fret 21mm at 12th with flatter 16" radius and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and inlay only at the twelfth fret. It is one of the last Ibanez models to use the ZR double locking tremolo bridge with ball bearing pivot and ZPS2 tuning stabilizer, it has Dimarzio IBZ pickups (precursor to tone-zone) and Gotoh tuning machines. So definitely a very interesting guitar for the Ibanez collector!
This guitar is in really excellent condition for an 18 year old instrument, There are no deep scratches or dents on the body, some light scratching in the clear coat is visible above the strings in direct bright light (not very visible and would be expected in any dark coloured guitar) .There are tiny imperfections on the back of the neck but these are barely noticeable, so clearly this guitar has been kept in it's case all it's life and just played at home. The rosewood fretboard is nice and dark with some very minimal wear (lower frets due to chords). Fret condition is very good they are generally very level and smooth, with some minor visible wear, again at the first few frets due to chords, upper frets are perfect. The s-type body is very comfortable to play sitting down, the Dimarzio/IBZ pickups have a great tone (there is some slight patina on the pickup surrounds/screws, but this would be expected after nearly 20 years!). Overall it plays great with nice low action, the ZR tremolo appears to be setup well (block is sitting correctly against ZR arm as shown in manual which comes with guitar). The trem arm is present and included in case. The tone and volume pots are a bit scratchy when you turn them but are fully functional. I only acquired this guitar recently, but I (unfortunately) am selling again to fund another purchase.
