The Tama WBR52LBNS-RWO Starclassic Walnut/Birch Red and White Oyster is a limited-edition shell set featuring hybrid shells made from walnut and birch. The innovative combination of walnut and birch produces a modern, warm sound with a very rich bass response, whilst remaining clear and articulate. This all-round drum kit from Tama features the legendary Starclassic shell hardware, which impresses with features including the Star Cast Mounting System, cast tension hoops and spring-loaded floor tom legs. Combined with the Evans heads and Starclassic lugs, the result is a contemporary drum kit with a modern sound and an impressive finish.

All shells in the Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch series are a hybrid of American walnut and European birch. The bass drum consists of a total of 7 plies (5 plies of birch + 2 inner plies of walnut), whilst the toms consist of 6 plies (4 plies of birch + 2 inner plies of walnut). Following extensive research, Tama found that this combination produces the most modern sound, suitable for all musical styles. The defining feature of this sound is, above all, the prominent bass response, created by the two layers of walnut. Birch wood lends the complex frequency mix a distinctive clarity and a powerful, assertive attack. In addition, the shells are lacquered on the inside, which further refines the sound.

The die-cast zinc hoops are extremely solid and enhance the sound. They also optimise contact between the lugs and the hoops, ensuring reliable tuning and stability. The bass drum lugs on the Starclassic Walnut/Birch Drums feature rubber pads that protect the hoop and improve the bass drum’s resonance.

The floor tom legs feature air suspension, and the tried-and-tested Starcast Mounting System ensures that the shells can vibrate freely, allowing the sound to unfold perfectly. The Starclassic lugs are extremely sturdy and perfectly suited to the rigours of touring. The toms and floor toms come fitted with Evans G2 clear heads as standard. The bass drum features an Evans EQ4 head with a damping ring, ensuring nothing stands in the way of immediate playing enjoyment.
