Toshiba PC-330 Direct-loading Tape Deck Japan 1977

A pretty rare tape deck from the late 70s. It’s well know for the super cool direct loading mechanism that looks good and sounds good at the same time. The handles on the left and right of the front panel were strange at first sight but they are actually useful when you place the deck into a hifi rack.

You can select Normal and Chrome tape types. The deck is equipped with Dolby B noise reduction system. The machine performs surprisingly good with Wow and Flutter under 0.07%.

I’ve been working a lot on this machine. Belts and idler tires were changed to new ones. Lighting was also changed. The VU-meters are not the originals. I changed the motor for stabile speed. The heads are original, kept in very good condition. The mechanism performs precisely. The deck runs smoothly, makes a very good recording and plays back promptly.
