Personal Thoughts:
The Special Semi-Hollow is already one of the most versatile and accomplished guitars in the PRS range, but this Wood Library specification elevates it into something genuinely exceptional. The Copperhead Burst finish beautifully complements the deeply figured quilted maple 10-Top, while the smoked-black hardware gives the guitar a slightly darker and more contemporary edge.
The figured maple neck and ziricote fingerboard are particularly impressive appointments, finished perfectly with old-school paua bird inlays. Sonically, the two 58/15 LT humbuckers provide the open, articulate and vintage-inspired character for which they are known, while the Narrowfield middle pickup adds focused single-coil-style clarity without sounding thin. Combined with the five-way selector and independent coil taps, it covers an enormous range of tones.
The semi-hollow construction introduces additional air, resonance and responsiveness while retaining the control and stability needed for higher-gain playing. It can move effortlessly from warm vintage humbucker sounds to crisp, glassy cleans and more modern textures. A spectacular Wood Library build that offers near-Private Stock levels of specification alongside genuine everyday versatility.
