The Electro Harmonix Pico Swello brings the popular polyphonic attack-envelope effect of the EHX POG2 to the compact Pico format as a standalone effects pedal. The circuit processes the attack of each note played individually, enabling smooth swells for single notes, chords and arpeggios. The Attack control offers a range from a merely gently rounded attack right through to long fade-ins for ambient textures and synth-like pads. In addition, there is a modulatable low-pass filter, whose cutoff frequency and modulation direction can be adjusted via the ‘Freq’ and ‘Mod’ controls. The filter can operate at two resonance levels and is directly coupled in terms of timing to the selected attack setting, enabling expressive rising and falling filter movements. This makes the Pico Swello suitable both for subtle attack shaping and for distinctive reverse-style sounds and experimental sonic textures.
