Manufactured in 1987, this sampler delivers that exact crunchy, punchy, and gritty golden-era hip-hop and electronic sound. It features the same iconic variable sampling rate and warm analog low-pass filters that made early Akai samplers famous.

This specific unit is a true collector's dream. Not only is it in near-mint condition, but it also comes fully serviced, modernized, and includes the nearly impossible-to-find AKAI ASK70 memory expansion!

Condition and modifications:

This unit has been heavily upgraded and serviced for modern studio reliability and workflow, fixing all the common issues associated with vintage Akai gear:

• Ultra-Rare Memory Expansion (AKAI ASK 70): The absolute highlight of this unit. The extremely rare ASK 70 expansion board is installed, doubling the sampling memory/time. These are practically impossible to find on their own today.
• Storage Upgrade (Gotek with OLED): The notoriously unreliable original 2.8" Quick Disk drive has been replaced with a fully functional Gotek USB emulator running FlashFloppy. It features its own integrated OLED screen and has been custom-mounted with a highly elegant design solution that fits the chassis perfectly.
• Original Drive Included: For the purists and collectors, the original vintage 2.8" Akai Quick Disk drive is included in the sale!
• Included USB Drive & Sound Libraries: Comes with a 16GB MicroSD card pre-loaded with a sound bank ready to load. Plug and play!
• Display: Brand new custom Yellow OLED display installed. It features incredible contrast and is perfectly readable from any angle. No more faded vintage screens or buzzing backlights!
• Power Supply Upgrade: The original transformer has been replaced with a brand new, high-quality Toroidal transformer. The sampler now runs completely silent, much cooler, and is significantly lighter.
• Serviced Power Board: A complete recap (all capacitors replaced) has been performed on the power board to guarantee long-term stability and clean power delivery.
• Power: Hardwired European 220V plug (Please note: this unit has a fixed power cable, not a standard IEC socket).
• Cosmetic condition: Near mint! The visual condition of the chassis and faceplate is absolutely stunning for a machine from 1987. Please review the photos carefully to see how clean it is.
