EHX English Muff'n Tube Distortion/Overdrive/PreampAn awesome pedal and getting fairly rare these days, this one has a couple of modifications to improve it. And let's be honest, who doesn't want more tubes in their rig or recording setup?The tubes have been changed out so it now has a Groove Tubes 12AY7 and an EHX 12AU7A. The tube change has given a load of extra headroom and taken the pedal from a really aggressive distortion to sound a lot more like a nice warm tube amp with the ability to dial in anything from a little tube warmth, through to heavy tube overdrive. Which has made the pedal much more useful and versatile, and it sounds just awesome, super easy to dial in something like a "Wind Cries Mary" tone with a load of warm tube crunch (which probably makes sense as the circuit is based on a 60s Marshall amp preamp section). It also sounds fantastic on Bass too, and has a low enough noise floor that I had no problems using it as a tube preamp for recording guitars, bass, and even vocals. And of course a change back to more aggressive distortion is only another tube change away.The one well known weak point of this series of pedals was the power supply which was badly designed and has a real tendency to either come unplugged or break. That has been resolved on this pedal by having a quality isolated 12v AC power supply hard wired into the pedal, and the old power connector replaced with a cable gland for the cable entry to prevent any cable strain.Everything is working as it should and sounding great. Cosmetically there are a few marks and scratches, but nothing major. Has velcro on the bottom.Comes with original box, manual and warranty card all in slightly beaten up, but decent condition.
