1950s Gibson Vibra-Rest Nickel – Original Box – Rare Vintage Case Candy
The real deal from the 1950s!
An incredibly cool and unusual piece of Gibson history: an original Gibson Vibra-Rest in nickel finish, complete with its original orange Gibson factory box.
Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the Vibra-Rest was an ingenious accessory designed to produce a vibrato effect on guitars equipped with a trapeze tailpiece, without requiring permanent modifications.
A fascinating example of Gibson’s early experimentation with vibrato systems, predating the famous Maestro Vibrola.
Features:
- Original Gibson Vibra-Rest
- Vintage nickel finish
- Original orange Gibson box
- Original $12.50 retail price printed on the box
- Original mounting hardware included
- Original interior padding
- Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
Condition:
Beautiful vintage condition throughout, with natural signs of age and light wear to the nickel plating.
The original orange box is particularly well preserved, showing only typical signs of age, including minor corner wear and surface marks.
All components shown in the photographs are included. The unit has not been functionally tested on a guitar.
A rare piece of Gibson history.
Finding one of these unusual accessories is already uncommon, but finding an example still accompanied by its original Gibson packaging makes it particularly appealing to serious vintage collectors.
A fantastic addition to a vintage Gibson collection or as period-correct case candy for a 1950s Gibson archtop.
International buyers welcome.
