Selmer Paris K-Modified 25B Trumpet (1959)
This is a Selmer Paris K-Modified 25B trumpet from 1964. The 25B version is the one with the XL bore.
This one is in a great condition! The lacquer is gone, but I haven't polished it as it's on it's way to get a really nice tarnish - it's darker in reality than on the photos. Valves are tight and fast with very good compression. I see no visible dents or dings, maybe I can feel some unevenness in the bell bow with my fingertips.
When this trumpet was made the entire Ellington trumpet section (among others) played Selmer K-Mod trumpets according to ads and footage (1960)! They all sounded great on them, but especially Cat Anderson in my opinion, his high notes on his Selmer were so pure and clean!
Compared to the other K-Mod models, my impression is that the sound of the 25B is a bit rounder, darker and more velvety.
The case is a BAM case. No mouthpiece.
Specs as measured:
Bore: 11,9 mm.
Bell size: 11,9 cm.
Weight: 1090 g.
