Follows description by Equipboard:
The Peavey Studio Pro 60 is a highly durable, 50-watt, 1x12" solid-state guitar combo amplifier. Introduced in 1988, it is celebrated for its rugged construction, aggressive high-gain distortion channel, and clean headroom.
Key Specifications
- Power Output: 50 Watts RMS.
- Speaker: 1x12" Peavey heavy-duty driver (often featuring an Eminence or standard Peavey magnet assembly).
- Cabinet Design: Classic "Teal Stripe" or early silver-striping cosmetics, utilizing thick plywood and heavy-duty plastic corner protectors.
Control Panel & Features
The amplifier features a two-channel setup designed to cover everything from crystal-clean jazz to heavy 80s metal:
- Normal (Clean) Channel: Includes dedicated Volume, Low, Mid, and High EQ knobs. It provides exceptional headroom and acts as an excellent "pedal platform."
- Lead (Gain) Channel: Powered by Peavey’s proprietary Supersat circuitry. This analog technology emulates the compression and saturation of a roaring tube amplifier. It features:
- Gain: Controls the input distortion.
- Supersat: Adjusts the secondary clipping stage for thicker harmonic saturation.
- Bottom, Body, & Edge: A highly responsive 3-band voicing matrix that allows players to heavily scoop the mids or dial in sharp treble bite.
- Post (Master Volume): Controls the final output level of the Lead channel.
- Master Reverb: Adjusts the output of the built-in, physical analog dual-spring reverb tank housed at the bottom of the cabinet.
Rear Panel & Connectivity
- Footswitch Jack: Allows a standard latching dual-button footswitch to toggle the Lead channel and turn the Reverb on/off.
- Effects Loop (Preamp Out / Power Amp In): Enables players to patch time-based effects (like delays or choruses) directly between the preamp and power amp stages, or use the Studio Pro 60 purely as a 50-watt power amplifier.
Sonic Character & Legacy
The Studio Pro 60 is widely regarded as a "sleeper" amp. While solid-state amplifiers of the era often received criticism, Peavey's analog Supersat engineering allowed this amp to produce punchy, aggressive distortion that made it incredibly popular for thrash metal, punk, and hard rock. It is also famously known for being virtually indestructible, easily handling decades of gigging and garage rehearsals.
